Use the Only Boats checklist before every launch: life jackets for everyone, a throwable flotation device if required, fire extinguisher, sound signal, water, sunscreen and a float plan. Check off, cast off.
Pack drinks in one cooler and food in another so the food cooler stays closed and cold. Freeze water bottles as ice packs. Keep raw meat sealed at the bottom.

Water reflects sunlight, so you can burn faster on a boat. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, wear a hat and polarized sunglasses, and bring a cover-up. Drink lots of water.
